I feel it is a particular honour to be invited to take part in the Titanic Memorial Cruise. I wonder what my grandfather would have thought 100 years ago as he boarded ‘The Ship of Dreams’, RMS Titanic. Almost certainly excitement at taking part in her maiden voyage, serving the rich and famous in the 1st Class Dining Room. The events of that voyage would change his life forever. He describes himself as one of the fortunate ones, when ordered to row Lifeboat 13.

I believe that I and everyone who takes part in this cruise are fortunate to be able to commemorate this important historical event and remember those who lost their lives in the sinking
